Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The candidate for this manufacturing engineering position will be responsible for:
- Processing bolt manufacturing methods, assigning tools to the bill of material, and creating drawings for manufacturing
- Supporting programming of the normac controlled centerless grinders, the studer and the CNC grinders, all Weldon grinders including robotic automation
- Analyzing problems and making process changes in manufacturing to enable a job to run more effectively
- Providing technical expertise to get difficult jobs running particularly with automated equipment and help support machine programming in grinders
- Working on continuous improvements projects to bring them on-line on and on schedule
- Participating in lean manufacturing events and six sigma projects
- Ensuring the proper disposition of non conforming product and conversion of scrap to reduce cost
Qualifications Desired:
To qualify, you should be a certified Six Sigma Green Belt and have a strong knowledge of Lean, TOC, and other state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques as well as a proven track record of leading significant process improvements in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a metal working environment. You must be capable of formulating with the input of others, projects that will aid in manufacturing efficiencies and product cost reductions. You will be participating in projects that reduce production costs through process improvement. Experience with root cause analysis and the development of corrective actions is a plus. Knowledge of Bolt Manufacturing and experience writing CNC programs and working with design software including Helix, Solid works is needed. Experience using manufacturing software systems also required.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering field preferred
- Three to five years manufacturing engineering experience required with a green belt
- Strong communication skills both written and oral
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines
- Ability to work well in a team environment and analyze problems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook
